Negotiable between Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area. This position will be required to participate in business travel to Sacramento 2-3x per month.

The Associate Director of Public Partnerships supports The Nature Conservancy's conservation goals by working on project teams to design and deliver policy objectives and serving as liaison between The Nature Conservancy and public funding agencies.

The Associate Director of Public Partnerships works to plan, implement, and coordinate programs in California to influence policy and public funding to further the Conservancy's mission.

Duties of the Director include:

• Strengthening relationships with public funding partners.
• Collaborating with staff to define and identify public funding opportunities, including developing competitive projects and funding applications.
• Building systems and relationships to better pursue and track public funding opportunities.
• Accountable to persuasively convey the mission of TNC to diverse groups including key legislators, government officials, and others who are critical to our overall public funding strategies.
• Developing funding opportunities and funding-related policies that align with TNC's conservation objectives.
• Managing the public funding coordination team.

• Bachelor's degree in political science, environmental policy, business or related field and 6 years of senior management level experience in government relations, corporate sector, or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Supervisory experience.
• Direct experience working with partners and government agencies.
• Project management experience including coordinating the work of other professionals inside and outside an organization.
• Experience in strategy development and implementation.
• Experience negotiating complex high profile or sensitive agreements.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural experience appreciated.
• Master's degree appreciated.
• Experience presenting to and communicating with management-level individuals or senior government officials.
• Excellent team player with experience working in multi-disciplinary groups, using influence and interpersonal skills, listening, diplomacy and tact to build strong relationships with governments, partners, and all levels of staff.
• Experience conceiving and implementing strategic initiatives.

The starting pay range for a candidate selected for this position is generally within the range of $116,000 - $170,000 for annual base salary.
Where a successful candidate's actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including, for example, the candidate's location, qualifications, specific skills, and experience. Your geographic location will be confirmed during the recruitment.

SF Bay Area: $126,700 - $170,000
Sacramento area: $116,000 - $156,600
