Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Sr Principal Engineer Mission Assurance located in Woodland Hills, CA.
Roles and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement Mission Assurance (MA) plans, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, program management, suppliers, and customers to implement mission assurance strategies.
• Provide quality and reliability expertise during design and development phases, including participation in design reviews, risk assessments, and failure mode analysis (FMEA).
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to drive quality into the design and ensure robust verification and validation processes.
• Lead root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations to address non-conformances, ensuring effective resolution and continuous improvement.
• Interface with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the quality and reliability of materials and components used in mission-critical systems.
• Support failure investigations, anomaly resolution, and risk management activities for complex aerospace and defense systems.
• Develop and track mission assurance metrics to monitor program health and drive data-driven decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and MIL-STD specifications.
• Engage with program leadership, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of mission assurance activities throughout the product lifecycle.
This position is a standard 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 work schedule allows employees to work Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This is an on-site position located at our Woodland Hills, CA facility!
Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Quality, Engineering, or related STEM related discipline with 8 years of experience: Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; PhD with 3 years of experience.
• Experience with quality systems, risk management, failure analysis, and reliability engineering principles.
• Experience with quality standards (ISO 9001) and regulatory requirements.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, and program management teams.
• U.S. Citizenship required with Active Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience with military and government specifications.
• Experience with design assurance, mission assurance in aerospace/defense programs, military and/or government specifications.
• Experience with hardware verification, validation, and test methodologies.
• Experience with aerospace quality standards (AS9100).
• Strong problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Experience in development programs and working within an engineering environment to guide teams through design maturation, risk mitigation, and process refinement.
Salary Range: $137,400 - $206,000
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
