About the Job
Job Summary/Purpose:
PetSmart is seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Compensation to lead and manage the design, implementation, and administration of our compensation programs. In this role, you will ensure that our pay structures are competitive, equitable, and compliant with legal regulations. You will provide direction and leadership to a team of compensation consultants and analysts, guiding them to successfully execute day-to-day tasks and manage major compensation-related projects. Your contributions will help ensure that PetSmart remains a competitive and attractive employer in the pet care industry.
Major Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Oversee and guide a team of compensation consultants and analysts, ensuring that their work is accurate, timely, and compliant with legal and company processes. Provide strategic input to senior leadership and business partners to drive key compensation decisions.
- Compensation Program Design and Implementation: Design, develop, and implement compensation programs that align with PetSmart’s business goals. Lead key projects and consult with business partners and company officers to ensure that compensation structures are optimized for attracting and retaining top talent.
- Annual Compensation Review Process: Manage and execute the annual compensation review process, which includes base pay, bonus, and equity programs. Ensure the review process is well-structured, compliant, and competitive.
- Executive Compensation and Long-Term Incentives: Administer and analyze executive compensation programs, ensuring alignment with market trends and business objectives. Oversee long-term incentive programs to reward and retain top executive talent.
- Market Data Evaluation: Direct the salary survey process and evaluate market data for home office positions, including executive roles, to ensure compensation remains competitive with industry standards.
- Project Management: Lead and support compensation-related projects from start to finish, ensuring smooth execution and adherence to timelines and budgets.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 7+ years of experience in compensation, finance, or human capital solutions, with a deep understanding of compensation strategies, market data analysis, and regulatory compliance.
- Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading teams of compensation professionals, providing guidance, strategic input, and driving successful project execution.
- Knowledge: Deep knowledge of compensation principles, pay structures, and market trends. Familiarity with executive compensation and long-term incentive programs is a plus.
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- Certifications/Technical Skills: Proficiency with SAP, PayFactors, MS Office, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Equity Edge Online.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze and interpret market data, manage compensation programs, and create actionable insights that drive business decisions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate with senior leaders and business partners.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Direct Reports: 2+ compensation consultants and analysts.
- You will be responsible for overseeing and coaching a growing team while ensuring alignment with the company’s compensation strategy.
