Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional and enthusiastic scientist to join the Characterization and Developability group in the Discovery Biologics Protein Sciences department in South San Francisco. The successful candidate will be hands-on in the lab and they will characterize biologic modalities including antibodies, ADCs, T cell engagers, cytokine fusions, and more using a large panel of physiochemical characterization techniques including SEC, CE-SDS, HIC, nano-DSF, DSC, DLS, RP, IEX, AC-SINS, cIEF, AUC and others to support biologics drug discovery, candidate selection and optimization, quality control, and developability assessments.

What you will do:

• Perform physiochemical characterization experiments on candidate biologics to provide recommendations for lead optimization, lead selection, and quality control

• Analyze and interpret data

• Provide written reports of purification and analytical data

• Document data in an electronic lab notebook (ELN) and relevant databases

• Present work in group and project meetings

• Help maintain laboratory equipment

Qualifications:

Education:

• Bachelor's (with 3 years) or Master's in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biophysics or related field and relevant experience listed below

Required Experience and Skills:

• Prior experience characterizing proteins

• Ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively present data at meetings

• General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, databases, and scientific applications

• Effective organizational skills and attention to detail

• Team player and excellent interpersonal skills

• Effective communication skills

Preferred Experience and Skills:

• Strong understanding of protein structure, biophysics, and analytical mindset to enable understanding of the relation between physiochemical properties and protein structure

• Experience/interest with high-throughput analytical characterization workflows and analysis of complex datasets

• General understanding of protein therapeutics including antibodies, multi-specifics, ADCs, and fusion proteins

U.S. Hybrid Work Model
