As the Leave of Absence and Accommodations Specialist, you will manage and administer leave requests and accommodations, particularly those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Massachusetts Paid Family & Medical Leave Act (MA PFML), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), other state and local leave laws, short-term or long-term disability plans, and workers' compensation.

Responsibilities
You will be responsible for the management and administration of leaves of absence, accommodations, and workers' compensation. This includes:
- Communicating with staff regarding their need for leave, and/or modified work schedules and ensuring that they are aware of their responsibilities and documentation requirements and reviewing any impact to pay and benefits.
- Reviewing medical documentation, following up with healthcare providers as appropriate.
- Making approval recommendations and determinations for leaves, leave extensions, and accommodations.
- Coordinating and approving return from leave, including any necessary accommodations.
- Serving as a subject matter expert for leaves and accommodations, a consultant to HR business partners/management and mentor other members of the team.
- Administering leaves and leave returns within Workday and ensuring accurate flow to payroll.
- Administering, guiding, and engaging in the interactive process for determining reasonable accommodations.
- Maintaining complete, timely, and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with company policy and state and federal laws.
- Guiding staff in the claim filing process for state leave programs, long-term disability, workers' compensation, and life insurance claims.
- Creating and analyzing reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Recommending and drafting revisions to company leave policies, best practices, and leave tracking in Workday to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of the leave requirements and legal protections afforded by the FMLA, MA PFML, ADA, and other applicable state and federal laws.
- Experience administering Leaves of absence
- Experience administering ADA accommodations
- Excellent judgment, troubleshooting, problem solving, analysis, and discretion
- Ability to handle complex and difficult conversations, and adapt to situational circumstances.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to handle highly confidential information and maintain privacy.
- Experience outsourcing some functions of leave administration is a plus.
- Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS) and reporting tools. Specific experience with Workday is a plus.
- Proficiency with various MS Office applications including Excel, Word, and Outlook.

- A bachelor's degree and 6 years of professional work experience (or a master's degree and 3 years of professional work experience, or equivalent experience) is required.
