Babson College is committed to providing a learning environment that is conducive to students developing to their fullest potential. On occasion, the College will need to activate a systematic response to student behaviors that may be disruptive to the college community and that may involve safety and/or mental health concerns. Through the creation of a collaborative team, the college will provide a caring, confidential program of identification, intervention, and response in order to provide students with the greatest chance for success, and the college community with the greatest level of protection.

The Student Success Portfolio at Babson College is comprised of the following units: Accessibility Services, Campus Assessment, Response, & Evaluation (CARE) Team, Counseling and Psychological Services, Divisional Assessment, First-Generation Student Success, Health Services, Student Advising & Success, and Wellness & Prevention Services.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Programmatic and Individual Student Support:
- Lead the College’s non-clinical/administrative case management efforts in support of students’ health, academic success, personal development, and overall well-being.
- Ensure an expeditious response to CARE reports to include partnering with reporting parties to facilitate the most efficacious response, formulating intervention plans to minimize and/or resolve problems, connecting students with appropriate resources, and mitigating risk.
- Respond directly to situations involving students whose behavior or whose physical, mental, or psychological health may be disruptive or harmful to themselves or others in the college community and/or students who may need additional support to be successful at Babson.
- Collaborate as a team to gather and share information, make recommendations regarding possible interventions, and ensure that appropriate outreach and connections are made for all identified students.
- Manage the College’s Concussion Care Protocol (CCP), coordinating closely with Health Services, Sports Medicine, Student Advising & Success, Graduate Academic Services, and Accessibility Services to track and monitor students’ progress, recovery, and return to full cognitive activity, pending medical clearance from Health Services or other qualified medical professional, and return-to-play for varsity athletes.
- Maintain privacy and confidentiality to the highest extent possible in accordance with FERPA and other privacy laws.
- Lead departmental, divisional, and College-wide trainings for faculty, staff, and student-leaders on CARE and responding to students-of-concern.
- Meet with undergraduate students wishing to take a leave of absence from the College to determine reason(s) and what support or resources may be needed. Facilitate reentry meetings as needed. Connect graduate students wishing to take a leave of absence with Graduate Academic Services for program-specific support and guidance.
- Facilitate provision of reasonable accommodations for students with temporary injuries/illness.
- Connect students who are experiencing financial hardship with appropriate on- and off-campus resources (Student Financial Services, Professional Attire Fund, Community Meals) as well as designated student emergency funds (Melissa Shaak Student Emergency Fund, Carol Hacker Endowed Student Life Fund, Gerri Randlett Got Your Back Fund). May provide oversight for one or more of these funds and/or collaborate with campus partners on evaluating student applications and rendering decisions regarding awards. Collaborate with Graduate Student Services on additional opportunities that may be available to graduate students (Grads Helping Grads, Professional Development Fund, etc.) or off-campus resources for commuters and/or students with families (WIC, GBFB, etc.).
- Develop, lead, and/or co-sponsor periodic life skills workshops for students focused on a range of topics including, but not limited to, grit, resiliency, cooking, eating healthy on a budget, financial literacy, and self-care.
Operational:
- Chair the CARE Team, lead weekly meetings, prepare cases, ensure that case managers maintain and update notes as appropriate, and make final determinations regarding the status of individual cases.
- Serve as a case manager and conduit for referrals and support for students experiencing academic and personal concerns (e.g., college transition challenges, mental and physical health, substance abuse, eating issues, family/relationship concerns, harassment) and ensure a “warm handoff” to appropriate resources.
- Develop metrics of success, monitor and track progress, and prepare regular reports and dashboards for leadership to demonstrate measurable gains in student retention, graduation, sense of belonging, and overall success for Babson students.
- Supervise a full-time case manager and provide functional supervision for the CARE Team.
- Serve as a member of the Student Success Leadership team, partnering closely with the Directors of Accessibility Services, Counseling & Psychological Services, First-Generation Student Success, Health Services, Student Advising & Success, and Wellness & Prevention Services on a wide range of projects, initiatives, and strategic planning within the Student Success Portfolio. Partner closely with Graduate Student Services (comprised of Graduate Academic Services and Graduate Student Life & Leadership) to help ensure graduate students are appropriately served by campus resources and referrals to off-campus resources.
- Review and respond to CARE reports submitted by members of the Babson community regarding students or situations of concern; ensure that the designated triage team assesses for risk, responds to the reporting party, and creates the case in Maxient in a timely fashion.
- Keep detailed notes of interactions with students, confidential reports, and referrals as needed in Maxient database.
- Serve as a member of the College’s Crisis Response and Behavioral Assessment Consultation Team.
- Participate in College-wide committees as designated by supervisor.
- Assume additional responsibilities as required.

WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Master’s Degree in Social Work, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Public Health, or a related field
A minimum of 10 years of experience working with college students; and a minimum of 5 years of experience managing staff and a budget.
Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to, and empathy with, the developmental needs of today’s college students.
Ability to work with ethnically, culturally, and socially diverse students, staff, and faculty.
Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Must have strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Maxient, Workday and Salesforce or other student information systems.
Ability to understand and make use of relevant student information and data to provide individualized advising services, support student success interventions, and implement targeted programming.
Must be flexible and willing to assume new tasks and special projects.
Must be capable of effectively managing a student crisis and following up with all appropriate parties in support of their academic, personal, and professional success.
Ability to create an environment where direct reports have the freedom and security to take initiative; deal with complexities with resilience, resourcefulness, and optimism; and appreciate open mindedness, creativity, and agility in thought and tactics

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK
Requires regular on-campus presence given student-facing nature of the role. Hybrid and remote modalities are available at certain times throughout the academic year.
