Director, Mobile Architecture

At Fidelity Enterprise Architecture (FEA), we are seeking an experienced Mobile Architect.
What you will be responsible for
At Fidelity, we have many types of customers we serve from retail brokerage, employers (401k providers), other financial institutions, and many more. With that comes many different apps that Fidelity provides, currently 12 distinct apps. These apps are owned by a variety of different business units. We have recently embarked on a journey to unify our mobile app architecture and share experiences cross apps. The challenge starts as we have a different variety of app architectures from fully native, hybrid/native, and full hybrid apps. The tech stacks range vastly in these.
This role will be a very hands-on role driving the overall technical experience architecture of our foundational mobile platform. This position will be directly responsible for driving the vision and strategy of how to build foundational reusable experiences and libraries that can be consumed by hybrid and native apps. Your work will be essential to Fidelity's mobile strategy on delivering industry leading mobile apps!
We are looking for someone that can dream up and help guide our engineering and product organizations to deliver this new platform! You will collaboratively work across other product areas and multiple business units influencing to ensure the new mobile platform can be shared and consumed with all parts of the company.
The Expertise we're looking for...
The following is a selection of skills (but not a hard list of requirements) that will help you thrive in this role:
- Experienced in engineering mobile applications end to end, with a focus on customer experience, scale, security, and performance
- Experienced in defining architecture for mobile applications and SDKs
- Ability to break down user interfaces and other parts into smaller reusable pieces
- Proficient in designing APIs for mobile and web apps
- Experience with enterprise API implementation, using REST and GraphQL [federation]
- 8+ years of professional experience developing publicly available iOS or Android apps using Kotlin, Android Studio, Swift, Xcode.
- Have deep knowledge of mobile landscape, architectures, trends and emerging technologies used in creating performant and resilient iOS/Android Apps.
- Experience with a hybrid framework such as Ionic Portals
- Experience presenting technical solutions to leadership
- Excellent coding skill and ability to deeply understand and champion new coding patterns and techniques
What to expect?
An initial conversation with the assigned Technical Recruiter for overall job expectations and employment requirements. Then you will have a conversation with one of the Architecture Leads operating in the Fidelity Enterprise Architecture group. After that, 3-part multi-panel interview where you should expect to discuss questions and scenarios around end-to-end architectural solutioning, technical background, and leadership topics with a group of your potential future peers.
