As a member of the Consumer & Small Business Deposit, Digital & Payment Legal Team, this position will involve providing legal and strategic support to business clients and colleagues in the Consumer and Small Business line of business on various bank regulatory, state-law, digital and payment related law issues.Truist is seeking an experienced Attorney that will be responsible for handling complex legal matters or projects. This position conducts legal research, drafts high priority documents, and handles significant product and regulatory matters. This position provides legal advice and recommendations for action to line of business executives regarding matters of some complexity, which may have a material dollar impact on business activities and operations. This position combines a knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the issue or project. Role operates under general direction from law department management. This position may research legal principles and precedents, consult with outside counsel, draft and execute legal documents, gather relevant case related information using multiple sources and methods, and provide direction to other professional, paraprofessional, and/or support staff in developing solutions to problems presented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Providing legal guidance and training for Consumer, Small Business, and Commercial digital products, services, channels, and operations, including Zelle, Bill Pay, and mobile check deposit, for product managers and digital execution teams.
Advising on consumer bank regulations including ESIGN Act, TCPA, CAN-SPAM, UDAAP, FDIC Part 238, among others.
Reviewing and providing advice and training on legislative or regulatory changes impacting digital operations, policies, and procedures.
Assisting in the development of new digital and payment related products and services.
Creating and/or editing client agreements, disclosures and forms.
Working with other legal, compliance, and risk professionals within to ensure appropriate interpretation of laws applicable to the products and services
Maintaining strong, productive relationships with key internal clients while serving as a trusted legal advisor, legal risk manager, and business partner.
Apprising clients of developments in the laws applicable to their products or services.
Advising clients and other stakeholders during regulatory exams.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:

1. Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and licensed to practice law in good standing
2. 5- 8 years of post-bar experience in a law firm, government, and/or corporate settings
3. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
4. Ability to prioritize matters, utilize time management skills, and move between matters fluidly
5. Ability to handle a heavy workload, manage stress effectively and meet critical deadlines
6. Team-oriented mentality and excellent interpersonal skills
7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications, such as Microsoft Office software products
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience practicing consumer/digital payments law - strongly encouraged to apply.

Broad understanding of digital execution, integration, operations, systems, and procedures as well as knowledge of consumer deposit and payment related state and regulatory laws. Familiarity with the current state of examination procedures, regulatory priorities and related expectations is also preferred.
